Employment
PlanetHoster does not currently have employees with impairment. If PlanetHoster does eventually employ persons with an impairment, it will make sure that it does not create barriers to accessibility, and will endeavor to remove any such barriers that may exist.
The Built Environment
PlanetHoster office is rented in a building. PlanetHoster also has access to data centers all around the world. Those infrastructures are not accessible to the public.
If employees with impairment are hired, PlanetHoster will seek to remove any barriers to accessibility, provided the solutions proposed are in line with the owners of the buildings.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
PlanetHoster provides web hosting services that are sold online through www.planethoster.com. PlanetHoster makes sure that its website does not contain barriers to accessibility. In furtherance of this goal, PlanetHoster routinely conducts automated and human-driven audits of its website and mobile app to identify and remove barriers. Additionally, PlanetHoster consults with the designer who is an expert on website accessibility to provide guidance to its software team, so that accessibility is integrated from the design stage. PlanetHoster’s efforts at improving accessibility are informed by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). PlanetHoster will continue these efforts as the website and other platforms evolve.
Communication, other than ICT
When PlanetHoster sends communications to its customers, they are sent in a machine-readable format.
The Procurement of Goods, Services and Facilities
As described above, PlanetHoster services are procured online through www.planethoster.com.
The Design and Delivery of Programs and Services
PlanetHoster’s design and delivery of programs and services are provided in accordance with CRTC policies and regulations. Our website meets accessibility requirements and, upon request, persons with visual impairments may request alternative formats of bill management and quality of service information. Individuals requesting alternative formats should email legal@planethoster.info or fill our online form on our website [https://www.planethoster.com/en/Contact] with their request. Please include “Accessibility Plan” in the subject of the email or the form.
Customers support accessibility is provided in accordance with the following CRTC requirements:
- Customer support is accessible to the point of providing reasonable accommodation to persons with disabilities by
- a) training customer service representatives in handling enquiries from persons with disabilities, and familiarizing them with PlanetHoster’s products and services for persons with disabilities; and
- b) making Interactive Voice Response systems accessible.
- Where customer service functions on websites are not accessible, persons with disabilities do not incur a charge or otherwise be disadvantaged if they use an alternate channel of customer service to access those functions. PlanetHoster makes accessible any customer service functions that are available solely over the website.
- Billing statements, bill inserts and information on rates and other terms and conditions of service must be provided in alternative format to subscribers who are blind, on request.
Transportation
PlanetHoster does not provide any services, internally or externally, related to transportation.
Consultations
Internal discussions between PlanetHoster’s CEO and the technical writer have been done for the initial accessibility plan. In the long run, PlanetHoster will consult persons with disabilities in the preparation of improved versions of this plan. The following disabilities will be considered:
- Visual impairments. Some users have a visual disability that inhibits their ability to see clearly or perceive color contrast ratios. This includes blind users or those with color blindness. For them, audio descriptions or accessible color combinations may be used.
- Hearing impairments. Users with hearing impairments may include deaf people and those with partial hearing loss. Captions for audio content can provide these users with a more accessible experience.
- Physical disabilities. Some people have mobility impairments that can impact their dexterity and ability to make precise movements, possibly making using a mouse difficult. The website should be properly coded for assistive technology devices to provide accessible content for users with physical disabilities.
- Cognitive disabilities. Some users may have cognitive impairments like dyslexia, dementia, or an auditory processing disorder. Using a specific font may be considered. Any audio content should have a transcript available for those with auditory processing impairments.
Principles
In preparing this Accessibility Plan, PlanetHoster has been guided by the following principles outlined in s. 6 of the Accessible Canada Act:
- all persons must be treated with dignity regardless of their disabilities;
- all persons must have the same opportunity to make for themselves the lives that they are able and wish to have regardless of their disabilities;
- all persons must have barrier-free access to full and equal participation in society, regardless of their disabilities;
- all persons must have meaningful options and be free to make their own choices, with support if they desire, regardless of their disabilities;
- laws, policies, programs, services and structures must take into account the disabilities of persons, the different ways that persons interact with their environments and the multiple and intersecting forms of marginalization and discrimination faced by persons;
- persons with disabilities must be involved in the development and design of laws, policies, programs, services and structures; and
- the development and revision of accessibility standards and the making of regulations must be done with the objective of achieving the highest level of accessibility for persons with disabilities.
*A barrier is defined in the “Accessible Canada Act” as meaning “anything – including anything physical, architectural, technological or attitudinal, anything that is based on information of communications or anything that is the result of a policy or practice – that hinders the full and equal participation in society of persons with an impairment, including a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning communication or sensory impairment of a functional limitation.
